all the things it’s supposed to do, it does badly or not at all; here are just a few; measure line is for over 1/2 cup; a lot of froth; it won’t work on small amounts, enough for one or two cups; plunger doesn’t go deep enough, and nub top of plunger is recessed into metal top so it’s impossible to make a full down stroke in any case; even if you try to cover the spout, milk squirts out, makes a mess; froth collapses quickly so you get coffee with thin froth that becomes regular old coffee and milk in about 15 seconds; going back to aerolate; it actually works, though found if the stem is bent at all- easy to do putting it back in the kitchen drawer- action slows a lot; that’s why i tired this; bad idea; you wind up trying again and again, then looking at it, wondering how could this totally screwed up product get on the market
Help answer the question about Steel Milk
are steel wool pads the same as wire mesh pads?
I have burnt Steel Milk milk on my stainless steel pots. I don't have S.O.S. pads but I do have wire mesh pads. Are they the same thing?

It’s a nice looking pitcher, but I recommend you order the 20-oz. size instead. I thought this would work for me because I only make a single latte at a time, but this pitcher isn’t really big enough for a decent sized latte. Might work fine for single-shot beverages, but for me, I need the next size up.
This cup is pretty to look at, but it actually cut my hand when I was washing it for the first time. It’s drawn stainless steel, and although the main body of the cup appears to be a decent thickness, the rim is pulled too thin and finished with too sharp of an edge. It actually creates a knife edge that is very capable of cutting things. This product is made in China.
I was looking for a way to froth milk without a fancy machine, and I found it with this product. This frother does exactly what it claims to do. I warm the milk in the microwave, push the pump about 20 times, and I have perfectly frothed milk for my capuccino (also made without a machine). Use extreme care when washing the glass carafe–it is extremely fragile and will break if it falls over.
This little milk frother has totally improved the coffee and tea situation around here. I microwave skim milk in the glass part, give it a few pumps and viola: an expensive latte. I ordered an extra carafe because so many reviewers said it would break. So far it hasn’t despite the constant dishwashering. I really couldn’t be more pleased with this item.
This was given to me several years ago as a gift. I started using it again a few weeks ago. It froths milk fine. But as a few other reviews have alluded, it is fragile. But not only for the thin glass. I noticed this when I first got it, and have been extra careful.
My issue is with the plunger. Most parts are stainless steel… except a brittle plastic disk which holds the screen and a second stainless steel disc onto the handle shaft. The brittle plastic developed small cracks and finally broke last week, rendering the whole frother useless. I wrote the company asking for a replacement part, which I told them I was happy to purchase. But all they did was send me a canned response telling me to buy a new one if it was out of its 30 day warranty. More junk for the landfill. I cannot believe folks keep buying crap that breaks easily. At least try another brand, which I am going to do. It’s not like these folks have a stranglehold on the Milk frother market.
I’ve had this pitcher for over a year. It works wonders every time! I use it every day and it is still shiny. I bought another pitcher this year and give it to my sister as a Christmas present. Guess what? She loves it, too!
I’m a real do it yourselfer and ever since I had my first chai latte at a coffee house I’ve been trying to froth milk. First I tried a steam wand on an espresso machine (what a mess!). I finally decided to get one of the small electric whisk frothers, but when I went to the local kitchen store they were back ordered. I “settled” for this one. What a pleasant surprise! It works great! It froths the milk to 2 1/2 times its original volume in just a few seconds (yes, the 20 strokes the instructions call for is enough). Skim milk works best, but I’ve gotten good results with 1%. You can heat the milk, but it works fine cold. The cool topping on top of the warm drink is a nice contrast. As for those who complain that it broke after a few years, quit whining and go get another for cryin’ out loud! Nothing lasts forever and its less than $30. Anyway, have you checked the feedback on how quickly the battery powered electric ones break?
One criticism that I agree with. The glass IS very thin, so keep it away from the kids.
Other than that, love it, love it, love it!
I am pleased with item. It has operated as advertised and expected. It has the power I expected, greater than the old one I used.
This is the second Bonjour Frother that I have purchased. The first was an older model which I thoroughly enjoyed but eventually it wore out and needed to be replaced. The quality of this new frother is not nearly as good as the first one. The motor works well but the shaft is not true and the spinner tends to wobble. The manufacturers quality control department needs a bit of help.
I make Cuban coffee, so this pitcher was perfect for my needs, a 6 cup espresso maker I got from Amazon also. The handle doesn’t really get all that hot either.
This is a very nice pitcher, worth the $$. I would recommend it for a small to medium sized espresso machine.
This is exactly what I was looking for: a simple, classic frothing pitcher. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s well-made. It’s easy to clean by hand or simply put in the dishwasher. The handle allows you to keep your fingers away from the pitcher while steaming so they don’t get burned. This is a pretty large pitcher, but I like a decent amount of steamed milk in my lattes, so it works well for me. If you prefer less milk consider a slightly smaller one, unless you plan on making two at a time.
I had BonJour’s basic frother which I liked a lot. One day it just died on me after only a few months of use. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and try another one of their products. I bought this new and improved version of their frother. It literally worked for 5 seconds. It started spinning and then just went dead. Can’t bring it back to life. Two defective products in 2 weeks? That is just poor quality. I’ll never buy anything from them again.
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1E5DVG7MGYGRI My trusty BonJour Primo Latte Frother with Stand, Black/Brushed Aluminum finally gave up the ghost, and I thought I’d try the newer model. Big Mistake. This takes four AA batteries versus the Primo Latte’s two. The included instructions illustrate putting batteries in one way, the frother’s battery compartment labels indicate a different arrangement:
Instructions:
OX
XO
Internal label:
OX
OX
Once I put batteries in according to the internal label,… nothing happened. Switch didn’t do anything. Tried several sets of fresh batteries. Nothing. since the batteries are fixed, and the top (with upper battery contacts and switch) rotates onto the frother, I played around with degrees of closure, finally settling on the clear “closed and locked” position. Then I whacked the mixer gently, and something “clicked” into place — suddenly the frother jumped to life. Clicking the switch did nothing. The frother had to have batteries removed to stop it.
Upon inspection I saw that there are four small screws just adjacent the battery contacts, a really dumb design. I suspect that the screws were shorting out the power (the previous model’s switch simply completed a circuit from the batteries in series to the motor). I screwed these in as firmly as they’d go, and they still exhibited this design flaw. Back to Amazon after 15 minutes of use. Oh, and these frothers work better with NiMH batteries (which I use in my video), so with normal alkaline batteries, this model didn’t even froth milk. If you buy any Bonjour frothers (I’m getting another Primo Latte frother), use NiMHs.
Cons:
Battery compartment and instructions contradict;
Won’t turn on with batteries in, or
Turns on with batteries inserted, without pushing switch, and
Doesn’t turn off until batteries are removed;
Harder to remove from stand than previous model;
Frothing disc does a poor job of frothing milk.
Pros:
Has a stand.
Perfect for the price! Fits under my espresso machine and holds enough milk for two cups of morning coffee
I ordered the Krupps Stainless Steel Frothing Pitcher. It came promptly. It is beautiful! The design lets you hold the handle with all of your fingers and not touch the pitcher, so you don’t burn your hand. I am very satisfied with the design, quality, and aesthetics of the pitcher. I have used it only once, and the only complaint I have has to do with the short steaming arm on my own cappuccino machine – makes it hard to reach the bottom of the pitcher. But you wouldn’t want the pitcher any smaller or more shallow.
Amazon separates this item from your order and charges you as much in shipping as the pot costs, even though they say “Your order qualifies for free shipping.”. You can get the same pot at a lower price from your local kitchen store. Don’t fall for this scam
I was pretty happy with my purchase for a week or so, until the morning I cut my finger open on the
razor-sharp lip of the pitcher.. I hadn’t realized it was so sharp, until I accidentally ran my finger
across it the wrong way, and owwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!
Was it really necessary for KRUPs to make this with a super sharp rim ?
Will have to see if I can buffer the steel edge out a little bit without ruining it.
