Bought this coffee maker recently and it produced great coffee for about two weeks.
Now its just dead and won’t make anything.
I’m now officially upset with Krups. I’ve bought everything Krups for years from bean grinders to ice cream makers and been happy.
My recent experience has been of fragile poor pouring carafes with replacements hard to find after one year now a coffee maker that died soon after being put into use. Support is near impossible to get a response from (have not succeeded).
Sadly, I’m looking for a new brand. I hope Krups returns to making decent products some day and provides support when things do go wrong. For now I feel like I’ve been patient enough.

Had this coffee maker for 3 months then it stopped working. It kept making cooler and cooler coffee then just stopped altogether. The coffee pot also leaked all over every time I would poor a cup. If my cheap standby coffee maker can make a pot that doesnt dribble why cant Krups.
I purchased this machine 2/2009. Around the end of August, 2009, the pump stopped working. I set up to brew a pot of coffee, came back 10-15 minutes later – no coffee in the coffee pot. Due to having company and being out of town I did not return it to the Wms Sonoma store until October, 2009. They were gracious enough to exchange it. I thought maybe the first one was just a fluke, but now – April, 2010 – the new one is doing the same thing. It will not pump the water from the reservoir to the coffee pot!! For the price paid ($119 + tx) I certainly expected it to last more than 5-6 months. A cheap Mr. Coffee lasts much longer than that! Not impressed at all!
My wife bought a Krups coffee from me 12 years ago and, just recently, it quit working. So naturally, I wanted another Krups coffee maker. I do my research on Krups and find this particular model to be very similar to the one manufactured 12 years ago; however, in reading the reviews, I see lots of similarities to my experience.
Good things – Makes are great cup of coffee, 12 cups size (larger than my last one), programable, etc. etc.
Bad things – VERY Loud – It wakes my 5 year old who is on the other side of the house (with insulated interior walls) with a door closed. Water reservoir in a bad location, if your not a steady hand, have paper towels ready each day to clean up. As of this morning (4/21/10) it quit working. I unplugged it, plugged it back up, check it for coffee, water, and made sure the filter was properly set, etc. I’ve owned it less than 60 days. Taking it back to Bed Bath & Beyond tomorrow. Probably will try another brand. That just bugs me that over time good companies allow their QC standards to slip.
This is undoubtedly the most ill-conceived design of a coffeemaker ever. The lid gets in the way of pouring water into the reservoir, ensuring spills. The lip of the carafe is very prone to spilling and dripping while pouring. There is no guage of water level. The brewing process is quite slow. I bought this product at a deep discount, and after a few uses, I realize why it was so deeply discounted. I have owned other Krups coffeemakers that I was very happy with, but not this one.
